Course Description

Introduction to the study of ideas and their logical structure, including arguments and investigations about abstract and real phenomena. Includes introduction to the history, theories, and methods of reasoning from the Pre-Socratics to present.

Textbook

Plato, The Republic. Translated by Alan Bloom, 2nd Edition, 1968. ISBN: 9 780465 069347. There are many translations of The Republic, and a few editions of this one, but I recommend you get this one so we are all, literally, on the same page.
